If you haven’t incorporated video into your marketing strategy it’s about the time to do so. Video statistics paint the picture of a thriving, growing industry.

So unsurprisingly a whopping 74% of those who aren’t currently marketing with video say they expect to start in 2019.

According to Cisco by 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic — 15 times higher than it was in 2017.

Let's answer the most common questions around the video production:

1. Do I need experience and special equipment to start video production?

Not at all! Cameras, lighting, and other minor details are NOT as important as most people make them out to be. The content and structure of your video are ten times more important than anything else.

Following is brief guide based on Brian Dean’s tutorial.

Step 1: YouTube Keyword Research

First generate a list of keywords ideas:

  • Use YouTube’s Search Suggest feature – If you type in your keyword, it shows you other keywords that people are searching for.
  • Find a popular video in your niche and copy their keywords (check title, description and video tags).
  • Find out what keywords people use to visit your videos

Then select the best keywords to use:

  • Aim for keywords with minimal competition. (Check out how many search results for any keyword.)
  • Use Google research—find keywords that come up with video results (generally how-to videos, reviews, tutorials etc.)
  • Choose keywords with at least 500 monthly searches. (Use Google Keyword Planner to determine this.)

Step 2: Creating the Video

Focus on video retention = maximize the time people are watching your videos. If your video keeps people on YouTube, YouTube will rank your video higher in the search results.
How to increase your video retention?
  1. Start your video with a summary of its content. (You have 10 seconds to get viewers’ attention.)
  2. Move right into the useful content
  3. Keep telling viewers whats coming up in the video to keep their attention
Other ranking factors:
  • Comments – Make sure you encourage your viewers to leave comments.
  • Video shares
  • – Encourage them to share the video too!
  • Click-Through-Rate (CTR) – This shows how relevant your video is to the keywords. If people click on your video in their search results, YouTube will rank you higher.
  • And the best way to boost your CTR? Create compelling thumbnails and titles!

Step 3. YouTube Video Optimization

  • SAY Your Target Keyword – YouTube now automatically transcribes your videos
  • Video title – make it at least five words to avoid keywords-stuffing

Here are some basic guidelines for the description:
  • Include your keyword in the first 25 words
  • Make the description at least 250 words
  • Include your keyword 2-4 times
  • Tags – they are not super important, but targeted tags not only help you rank for your target keyword, they also get you to you show up more often as a related video in the YouTube sidebar. Tag ideas: your targeted keywords, a few variations of them, and other topics the video covers. Get ideas from your competitors.

Step 4. How to get views for your video?

  • Visit Quora and other Q&A sitesWhen you find a question that seems like a good fit for your video, answer the person’s question as best you can. Finally, link to your video at the end of your answer.
  • Link To Your Video In Your Email Signature
  • Embed Your Videos in Blog Posts – Write a blog post about your video for your site or as a quest post
  •  Use playlists – Connect your videos on the same topic together into one playlist.
  •  Optimize Your Channel Page
